About
Osna
Osna
in Gaelic means the sound of the silent voices of the world
around them. It can be the voice of history with whisperings
of tales of heroes of a bygone age.
They
hear the sign of deep woods. The moods of the sea, the laughter
of music and the dawning of day.
Osna
took their name from the cry of a deserted island off the
coast of the Gaeltacht of Eachleim in Mayo. The cry was a
lament for all the islanders who were lost at sea and indeed
for its exiles who are scattered worldwide. This sadness echoes
through the haunting, newly composed slow air - Inis Gé.
The
joy of the exiles return, the merriment of reunion, the camaraderie
at ceilithe, house dances and weddings flows through their
music. It is the musical pulse of Mayo whose heartbeat sounds
loud and clear through this album of Osna.
